Troubleshooting

Even though the installation process is mostly automated and should perform without errors, specific setups and non-standard systems can occasionally cause Maya to fail to find the installed files.

If the SHAPES menu item does not appear after restarting Maya, the files may have been copied to a location unknown to Maya. Please verify the following:

  • Go to Windows > Settings/Preferences > Plug-in Manager and check whether the plug-ins are listed. Note the path of the files. If the plug-ins are present, the files can be found and something else went wrong.
  • During installation, before files are copied, the installer reports the installation path. If the user name does not appear correct, the files may have ended up in the wrong location. In this case, try installing with a user-defined path.
  • The installer creates a log file in the same location as the installer script. The log is a plain text file you can open in any text editor. Open it and check the paths of the installed files.
