Beyond the core editor, the SHAPES collection includes SHAPESBrush for sculpting, weightDriver for RBF-driven shape blending, RampWeights for weight splitting, and WeightsServer for weight control. Each is independently available, so studios can deploy only what their pipeline requires.
Every setup SHAPES creates is compatible across Maya versions. No black boxes, no proprietary formats - just standard Maya nodes you can inspect and modify.
SHAPES is an authoring tool. Your rigs play back and render on any machine with a standard Maya installation, with no license required.
Non-standard Maya nodes are entirely optional, open-sourced under the MIT License, and usable on external systems without restriction.

SHAPES is now distributed on a maintenance subscription basis. Each new Maya version requires a recompile and continued development work - a cost that a one-time license can no longer sustainably cover. Every version you download includes a discount code for the next release, reducing future upgrades to a small maintenance fee.
If you hold an existing SHAPES license, you are entitled to a free update to version 5.13. Use the Update License button to verify your license and receive your discount code.
The weightDriver node has been updated to version 5, combining the best features from earlier versions while maintaining compatibility with existing scenes. Several new attributes have been added to the RBF solver, including options to enable or mute individual drivers and poses, normalize outputs, and control regularization. Please check your results after upgrading, as the interpolation behavior has changed between versions.
